SUSTAINABILITY IN PRACTICE

ABOUT

Hi. I’m Sokratis.

Hi - I’m Sokratis.

Eleven years across UNICEF and UNHCR, in Athens, Geneva, New York and field operations, led to founding Impact Seed in 2026.

THE SHORT VERSION

Most of my career was at UNICEF and UNHCR Athens, with assignments in Geneva, New York, and field operations across Greece. The Programme Support Unit at UNICEF Greece managed partnerships, compliance, and grants exceeding €180 million. The work also covered climate, sustainability, environmental justice, and emergency preparedness.

Most of my career has been at UNICEF and UNHCR – Athens, with assignments in Geneva, New York, and field operations across Greece. I led the Programme Support Unit at UNICEF Greece, overseeing partnerships, compliance and grant management for a funding envelope of more than €180 million, while directly running the climate, sustainability, environmental justice and emergency preparedness portfolio.

The portfolio included work in Roma settlements after Storm Daniel. It piloted child-responsive disaster preparedness across municipalities and informed Parliament’s environmental protection committee. It also coordinated a climate initiative across five Central Asian countries and shaped child-sensitive measures in the European Social Climate Plan.

Greece’s national inter-agency working group on preventing sexual exploitation and abuse included more than 40 organisations.

In 2026, Impact Seed was founded to bring this expertise to organisations that need it and lack in-house resources.

WHY “IMPACT SEED”

Useful work is rarely the launch. Frameworks, evidence bases, and capable teams planted early determine whether anything grows.
